Provenance and Authentication
Upon the death of Jan Sirks, the copyright for all the art was transferred to his widow Hillegonda Louise Sirks-Mol. On 30 September 1960 the copyright was transferred to their daughter Louise Briels-Sirks under the guidance of a notary. All the plates, apart from several that were irreversibly damaged by a bomb during World War 2 and some that sadly were stolen, are still held in private collection.
After the death of her father, Louise Sirks, took over the sales of the etchings, just like her mother had before her. Louise became a familiar sight at galleries throughout the Netherlands and took care of the Sirks Collection until her death on 16 June 2009. The ongoing dedication of Louise ensured the art of Jan Sirks can still be enjoyed today.
